Psalms 2:1-5 Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing?
The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying,
Let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.
He that sitteth in the heavens shall laugh: the Lord shall have them in derision.
Then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure.
There’s a level of affluence that can make a mortal man lose sight of his mortal limitations. In my very few days of existence, I have seen men rise in fame, wealth and authority and suddenly lose control by default…. infact their rise in affluence became the subject of a great Crisis as they ignorantly begin to portray themselves with some level of impunity and anarchism against the authority of heaven and earth. The Bible says, He that sits in the heavens shall laugh, the Lord shall have them in derision, Psalm 2:4.
Beloved, God’s wrath is a character correctional device…..infact He is a specialist of humbling people in due season, Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon refused to recognise the governing influence of God, he proclaimed and exalted himself above the reach of any living thing until God visited him with a corrective slap which made him confess “Now I Nebuchadnezzar praise and extol and honour the King of heaven, all whose works are truth, and his ways judgment: and those that walk in pride he is able to abase”, Daniel 4:37. He became a crusader on the dangers of pride.
Also, God’s wrath is the antidote to societal, national and global wickedness. The Bible says, ”then shall he speak unto them in his wrath, and vex them in his sore displeasure”, Psalm 2:5. The man herod vexed the church to the extent that he killed James the brother of John and also attempted to kill Peter but for the prayers of the church….And upon a set day Herod, arrayed in royal apparel, sat upon his throne, and made an oration unto them….the people gave a shout, saying, It is the voice of a god, and not of a man, immediately the angel of the Lord smote him, because he gave not God the glory: and he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost, Acts 12:21-23.
Are you resisting God?….Do you enjoy taking the glory?….Are you taking counsel against His anointed?….Are you antagonizing His church?….Remember that God is no respecter of persons. He is a specialist in practically humbling people and His wrath is the antidote to societal, national and global wickedness.
Prayer: Father grant me the grace to submit my all to you and kill every element of pride and wickedness in me.
God bless you richly!
